1. Name: June Bellamy
2. Birthplace and date: Greenwood, SC; June 5, 1944 (the day before D Day;
my dad was with the Infantry in the South Pacific so for awhile it was just
my mom and me. I didn't "meet" my dad until I was 18 months old, when he
returned from the Army.)
3. Spouse: John. We have been married for 35 years.
4. Business/Profession: Elementary Music Teacher (DeKalb County Schools; 2
years at Hightower School [where I met John] and 30+ years at Stone Mountain
Elementary)
5. Places I have lived: I grew up in Batesburg, SC, a small town in middle
of SC. The sand there is so white, it looks like beach sand, but flower,
peaches and cotton love it!) After college, I came to GA to teach and never
left. John and I have lived in Doraville, Decatur and Tucker before moving
"north."
6. Coming to NE Georgia: John and I moved to Northeast GA in June of 1999,
right after I retired from teaching. We lived in an apartment while our
house was being completed. We moved into the house in August 1999. We had
waited almost 30 years to build our "dream home."
7. Hobbies/Interests: Music (I like to sing, play the piano and just
listen to good music - all kinds), quilting (I take lessons to try to undo
all the bad habits I have acquired over the years), reading, and most
recently, working in the yard with John (mostly, I am the "weeder," and our
three grandchildren. I am very active in an International Honorary
Teachers' Sorority called Alpha Delta Kappa. I served as State President of
this organization from 2004-2006. It was a great experience. John was my
right hand man! He helped me so much. I will be forever grateful for all he
did.
8. Other information: I attended North Greenville Jr. College (now North
Greenville University), Carson-Newman College (B.S. in Music Education) and
received my Masters Degree from UGA in 1972 in Music Education. John and I
have two children: a daughter, Lauren, who is married to Ryan McCann, and a
son, Brandon, who is married to Christy Robinson. Lauren and Ryan have
given us three special blessings: Katherine (5), Andrew (3) and John Ryan
(16 months). We sure enjoy those grandchildren!
